Vandersloot To Return in 2015

“Courtney’s ability to run our team, emergence as a leader and sheer toughness have been key factors in our success,” said Sky Head Coach and General Manager Pokey Chatman. “I’m looking forward to her continued growth in the years to come.”

Chicago selected Vandersloot with the third overall pick in the 2011 WNBA Draft. Entering her fifth season with the Sky, the 5’8 point guard has proved invaluable to Coach Chatman’s roster. Appearing in 17 regular season games in 2014, Vandersloot tallied 10+ assists in three straight games from May 24th to May 30th, including her 508th career assist on May 26th against Minnesota to pass Dominique Canty as the Sky’s all-time assist leader. On May 30th Vandersloot set a new career high, and the single-game franchise high, with a 13-assist performance against Connecticut.

With 580 assists in four seasons with the Sky, Vandersloot enters 2015 in 8th place on the WNBA’s all-time assists per game list (4.8). Currently, Vandersloot is playing for Wisla Can-Pack Krakow in the Polish League where she is averaging 9.9 points, 4.3 assists and 3.0 rebounds alongside Sky teammate Allie Quigley.

Watch Vandersloot lead the Sky on opening night, June 5 at Allstate Arena when they host the Indiana Fever in a rematch of last year’s Eastern Conference Finals. Prior to tip-off, the team will unveil its 2014 Eastern Conference Championship banner. For more information or to purchase tickets, click here.
