Rookie Q&A: Meet Brittany Boyd
NEW YORK (April 23, 2015) —The Liberty caught up with each of its 2015 Draft selections just days after hearing their names called. Every Thursday we will post a new player Q&A.
Up first, Meet Brittany Boyd.
Q: What’s your definition of “Cali Swag”? And how will you bring that here?
Brittany Boyd: “My definition of Cali Swag is being confident, driven, unique and relentless. I will bring my Cali Swag to New York by working tirelessly for my teammates, coach and the City!”
Q: Did your head coach Lindsay Gottlieb (from Scarsdale, N.Y.) and/or Jill Culberston (Liberty Assistant General Manager, 2010-12) give you any special tips to prepare you for New York?
Boyd: “Coach Gottlieb told me that her family that lives in New York has extended an open invitation to me for dinner. She also warned me about New York traffic and the subway system. She said, “make sure you are on time for everything.”
Jill told me about great places to eat and good people to contact while living in New York. ”
Q: On April 16, you tweeted “I’ve been waiting on this day since I was 16”, what was your initial feeling once you heard Laurel Richie call your name?
Boyd: “When Ms. Richie announced my name, I felt an overwhelming sense of joy and gratitude. There is nothing like having your name called!”
Q: If you had to describe yourself in one word, what would it be?
Q: Favorite thing to do besides playing basketball?
Boyd:“Travel with friends and family.”
