Tamika Catchings Test-Drives IMS Festival Car

If you see a white Chevrolet Camaro convertible cruising around downtown Indy on Thursday, there's a good chance it has Fever star Tamika Catchings inside. The Indianapolis Motor Speedway has given Catchings and a few other local celebrities the cars for 24 hours in an effort to spread the word about its month of May festivities, including Saturday's Angie's List Grand Prix of Indianapolis.

Catchings doesn't exactly consider herself a car person, but one look at her temporary ride had her considering adding it to her garage. "This ride is nice," Catchings said. "Especially the inside, the interior with the red, I love that."

Beyond the visual appeal of the 2015 model, it boasts a 6.2L, V8 engine with 400 horsepower and a six-speed automatic transmission. Catchings said that she does enjoy driving fast at times, and for the next 24 hours, that shouldn't be a problem.

Catch was recently involved with the IMS, helping them raise the ceremonial flags to kickoff racing season. She is also hoping to attend the Indy 500 this year, since the Fever will have the day off.

For her day with the pace car, Catchings has a busy day planned that includes closing on a new house and meeting with Mayor Greg Ballard. Luckily for Catchings, the speedy car provided to her by the IMS ensures she won't be late for any of her engagements.
