Two-time Longhorns scoring leader (as soph and junior) carved out solid career despite battling knee injuries, most recently tearing her left ACL Jan. 19 at Baylor. Prior to that, in Mar. 2009, tore her right ACL driving to the basket vs. Brittney Griner in a Texas prep state semifinal game … 2014-15: Had Texas off to a 14-2 start before being injured. At the time of her injury Enemkpali led the Big 12 in rebounding (10.6 rpg) and double-doubles (9), including a UT-record 7 straight double-doubles (more than either Kevin Durant or Lemarcus Aldridge had in Longhorn uniforms). Was on pace to be just the 5th in program history with 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds. Finished career No. 9 on UT charts for rebounds … 2013-14: All-Big 12 First Team after ranking 2nd in Big 12 in rebounding, tied for 3d in double-doubles (8), and 5th in FG percentage … 2012-13: Texas’ leader in points and off. boards NOTEABLE: Nneka Nkemjika Enemkpali, her name means "mother is greater" in ancestral language of Igbo people of southeast Nigeria; has visited Nigeria and is fluent in Igbo.
